me

Hi :)

I'm Ingrid. And I'm responsible for the randomness that is "ice cream is nice cream." Here are 100 things (of dubious interest) about me:
  1. Despite its questionable nutritional value, I like Kraft Dinner. Not the fancy schmansy stuff mind you, but the truly scary looking neon orange stuff. I can't explain why I like it, or why it is that orange.

  2. When I was a kid, I had a recurring dream about this guy that ate people. It took place in normal suburban neighborhood, my mom was not my mom, and the colors were really vivid. It was strange. When I used to wake up screaming, I'd tell my mom that I had had a dream about bears.

  3. I love being by water: sea, lake, river, swimming pools, puddles. Pretty much all water with the exception of mosquito ridden swamps. But that is only because I hate mosquitoes more than I love water.

  4. I hate mosquitoes.

  5. I think that classic movies with german voice overs are hilarious. It doesn't matter what the movie is.

  6. They replaced my anterior cruciate ligament with hamstring.

  7. I want to be loved.

  8. If I had only one day to live, I would cry a lot. And then hopefully do something interesting.

  9. The older I get the less cavalier I am about death.

  10. I love sleeping in.

  11. I don't mind drinking warm beer. This is not to say that I LOVE drinking warm beer. I just don't mind. I'm sorry. I also don't mind drinking warm (as opposed to hot) tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. This may offend you, but that doesn't really affect me.

  12. I would love to be a shockingly direct person, but I'm not. Usually.

  13. I bite my nails. But neatly.

  14. I am trying.

  15. Kinder surprises have known to be valuable muses in my life. I like the ones with lots of pieces and moving parts. Lately I have found the prizes to be disappointing.

  16. I love listening to live music. I love the talent of the people who play, their passion for what they do, and the atmosphere of people together listening.

  17. One summer I had job being Mr. Cookie for Loblaws. I dressed in a huge cookie outfit and handed out cookies to people. (This must go back to #2 somehow.) The cookie outfit had a fan in it since it was so hot. A small boy kicked me. Why?

  18. I love the produce section in grocery stores. I cannot possibly eat everything I would like to buy and often I don't eat everything I do buy. I like the strange fruit and mysterious vegetables that I have no idea how to cook.

  19. In my head, I am graceful. Graceful brains... or something.

  20. Oreo cookies leave little things stuck in my teeth. Smiling at that point: not a good idea.

  21. I think that you are never too old to make up songs about mundane tasks. Like vacuuming. Or cooking bacon.

  22. When I was a kid I wanted to be either a veterinarian or an airline hostess. It would have been an interesting combination of skills.

  23. It is possible to fall of your bike while living in a perfectly flat country.

  24. Sometimes I am really detached from my own emotions.

  25. I want to live by the sea and swim every day. Except for maybe during storms. And also not if there are large flesh eating fish nearby. Or when it is really really cold and your legs seize up and cramp. That would be bad. But in general, I'd like to swim in sea every day.

  26. I am not as slim as I would like to be.

  27. I forget to eat lunch all the time. I'm simply not hungry at lunchtime, but then I regret it at about 3:00 in the afternoon when I become snippy and unfocused.

  28. I have never owned a dog. I think that I would like to, but I really don't know since I have no basis for knowing whether I would be a good dog owner. I do have a picture of a dog in the kitchen. It's a painting. The dog is staring kind of psychotically. I like that in a dog painting.

  29. Don't ask me whether or not I'm having children. OK?

  30. There was a time that I considered being a kind of "non-Catholic" nun-type person. I thought that I would go around the world and do good things, like feed and love orphans, dig wells, and otherwise better the world. As much as I am happy that I am not alone, I miss feeling the intense need to make the world a better place.

  31. I sold out to the man and work in marketing. Huh.

  32. I write little stories all the time. "The man's hat flew into the pond. Unexpectedly, at the very same time, someone threw a coin into the pond for luck. It fell into the hat. Both the hat and luck lost, just like that." There. That was a little story.

  33. I don't like talking on the telephone. I like to see people's faces when they talk to me. I also don't like answering the phone (a related thing). I am quite happy to let the phone ring and let the answering machine pick-up. This is bad I know. It has resulted in me losing touch with too many friends. I need to take inspiration from the Bell advertisements.

  34. When I was a kid, my mom used to make these dumplings with plums, cinnamon, and sugar in the middle. They were delicious. I haven't had one for a long time.

  35. I once had a cat named Kamir. He was a beautiful black cat with a long plumed tail, orange eyes, and the loudest "meeeeooooowwww" you could ever hope to hear. Especially beside your head (at 2 a.m. in the morning) I called him Kamir because he only seemed to respond to "Come here" which I pronounce more like, "Coooomeeer"... so he was dubbed Kamir.

  36. I love sitting in the sun with friends on a patio. Also with beer.

  37. I am easily distracted.

  38. When I was a kid, my brother told me that the bogeyman was under my bed. While I knew that this could not be true, it did not prevent me from running across the room and taking a flying leap to get into bed rather than have my ankles grabbed.

  39. My grandmother gave me a big stuffed frog when I was about 8 years old. At night, the white eyes shone eerily across the room at me. So I used to jump across the room and throw the frog under the bed (maybe assuming that the bogeyman would take care of him).

  40. Some days when the sun is shining I want to curl up in its beams like a cat and sleep all day. And be petted. But I'll pass on the cat food.

  41. I like nail polish my toenails in the summer time. The stranger the color the better. Right now I have Sally Hansen "Chrome" on them.

  42. I get really emotional when I see older men, my dad's age, alone. I don't know if this is because I am homesick for him, or that I feel bad if they look lonely, or if I subconsciously become aware that he is old. But I suddenly feel very weepy when I see them.

  43. I once had a younger waiter that reminded me of my dad a lot. Same twinkle in his eye, same hands, and same tone of voice... It was nice and strange at the same time.

  44. I am really afraid of going to a new place where I have to make myself known (for example, a doctor appointment). I get really (really) nervous. Once I am there, I am fine. But I find it really hard to go there.

  45. Wildflowers make me happy. But you aren't allowed to pick them in the Netherlands. Bummer.

  46. I also really like flowers with strange shapes and colours. The spikier the weirder coloured the better.

  47. When I was a little kid, I lost my boots in the snow in our backyard. They came off of my feet while I was tromping around, but the snow was too deep to find my boots. They melted out in the spring though.

  48. My favourite snack is toast with thinly sliced old Canadian cheddar, with thick slices of very ripe tomato on the top. I haven't had old Canadian cheddar or a genuinely good tomato for a very long time.

  49. I read a mixture of challenging literature and crap. I like both equally.

  50. I hate musicals.

  51. There are very few places that I don't want to go. You may think that this refers to my questionable sense of humour; however, I am referring to locations on this planet.

  52. I am very bad at keeping in touch with people who are no longer geographically proximate. I am bad about writing letters (I don't), inconsistent about calling (with the exception of my parents), and horrible about remembering other people's birthdays and other significant occasions. (The worst thing about the fact that I forget other people's birthdays is the fact that I really really like other people to remember mine.)

  53. Speaking of a bad memory, I can start a sentence and forget what I was about to say... and... oh never mind.

  54. I sometimes cry on the way home from work. I'm not sure why. I do it subtly.

  55. Despite hopes to the contrary, I am not an earth mother.

  56. I can fall asleep and dream within 2 minutes. I know this for sure because I can dream between sleep button presses.

  57. Sometimes I forget myself and sing while wearing my mp3 player... in public. Thankfully some people smile at me anyways.

  58. People surprise me with their kindness every day.

  59. I can pass on chocolate.

  60. Every time I go to the beach I collect little shells and put them in my pockets. I refind them when I'm in the city and they make me happy.

  61. I can be reclusive for many days on end. Sometimes this worries me. But for the most part it doesn't.

  62. Toast is nice.

  63. I have flashes of anger that scare me.

  64. I laugh too loud sometimes.

  65. I like to think of myself as ironic but that is just because I tend much more towards silliness which is less classy.

  66. I have recently learned to stand in lines patiently.

  67. I love thunder storms. With lightning and great loud pounding rain.

  68. What was that? I'm easily distracting.

  69. I hate reading old stuff that I've written. It makes me feel... insecure.

  70. I love having baths. Stepping into the too-warm water and sinking into the clean goodness. Playing with my rubber ducky that is actually a fish and that doesn't float very well. I like baths.

  71. I've never been outside of Europe or North America.

  72. I recently got over my fear of big dogs.

  73. I have a little hair that grow under my chin. I pluck it, but sometimes I forget. I wonder who notices.

  74. I loooove spicy food. Wasabi, mustard, chili sauce, hot peppers, and horseradish are my friends. MmmmmmmmmmmmMmmmmmmmmmmMmmmm.

  75. I am getting tired of this list. So I'm stopping now even though I'm only at 75. I have no problem with that.
